At the heart of everything we do is our philosophy - a set of values and beliefs that shape our program, practice and decision making. We embody our philosophy through three key principles: Connecting, Exploring and Learning, which underpin every aspect of our approach.

connecting

Connecting

Connecting

Every day at Cronulla Preschool, we meet on Dharawal land and connect with each other and the world around us. We acknowledge the original custodians of this land, the Gweagal people and their Dharawal language and all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in the community.

We believe in the importance of connection and promote equity and inclusion through our whole program and in all our interactions. Through connecting, we strengthen social skills, communication, and opportunities for lifelong learning. Our focus on respectful, collaborative, and meaningful relationships is inspired by the Circle of Security approach, and we strive to create a warm and supportive environment for all.

Exploring

At Cronulla Preschool, we encourage your child's curiosity and promote inquisitive play-based learning. Through exploration, we provide endless opportunities for children to problem solve, hypothesize, create, engage, grow, and develop according to their own interests and learning styles.

Nature Play, Loose Parts Play, and Risky Play are three embedded pedagogies that foster exploration and a deep connection with the natural world.

We embed the EYLF curriculum to support each child in becoming the best they can be on their journey through the preschool years to the early years of school.

Learning

Learning

We believe in the power of play-based learning to support your child's development and prepare them for their early years of school. Our play-based curriculum is designed to support the Belonging, Being, and Becoming of every child, as outlined in the Early Years Learning Framework. We value spontaneity and embrace the opportunity to learn from every moment, person, and resource we encounter.

Our commitment to a positive and intentional transition to school is woven throughout our learning program, routine, environment, and interactions.

“ … you have well and truly gone beyond all expectations we had on all fronts. Your entire team have an amazing way with children which will hold our child in good stead for the rest of his life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart”
